Owen Ruby has been performing live in Second Life for almost two decades. What started in 2009 as a way to bring live music to a virtual stage has grown into something harder to define — part concert, part conversation, part musical free-for-all where the setlist is always subject to change.
With over 400 songs in the catalog, Owen doesn't belong to one genre and doesn't pretend to. A show might open with Pink Floyd, pivot to Chris Stapleton, detour through Depeche Mode, and land somewhere between Garth Brooks and Guns N' Roses before the hour's out. Rock, country, pop, synth, blues — if it's a great song, it's fair game.
Owen's strength is range without losing identity. There's a thread that runs through all of it — the voice, the feel, the way a song gets treated — even when the styles are miles apart. Whether the room wants something raw and soulful or something that hits the chorus hard, Owen reads the moment and plays to it.
